Baseball Team Program

In the spring of 2011, the Primetime Baseball Team Program kicked off its first season with one 11u travel baseball team.  For the spring of 2012, we have big plans to expand our program and add several teams.  See below for our upcoming tryout schedule for 8u - 11u teams.

8u - AUGUST 21st, Fall Creek Little League, 12:30 - 2:00 pm
11u - AUGUST 21st, Fall Creek Little League, 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm

Our program is broken up into 4 segments; Making the Team, Indoor Practice Season, Outdoor Practice and Regular Game Season, and Tournaments.  Please see below for specific information about each segment!

Making the Team

Tryouts will be held once per year in August and September.  One area where our program differs from many others is that once a child makes a Primetime team, they do not to try out again the following year if they want to continue playing for our team.  We will stay loyal to our players and parents as long as you are happy with the product we are putting out and feel your child is getting a great youth baseball experience.   After teams are set, each player will be assessed a fee which will cover their uniform and apparel pack.

Indoor Practice Season

We suggest a plan for each team's indoor practice season which is listed below, but please note that each team has the ability to alter the amount of time they spend practicing during this portion of the season.  Coaches decisions, alternate locations, parent input, team fees, and age level can all have an affect on the amount you practice indoor, but the general plan is listed below.

  • 8 indoor practices held at Trinity Ballpark.
  • Begin the first week of February and end in late March.
  • Practices will be 2 hours in length; one hour will be spent on a field and one hour will be spent in batting cages and pitching bullpens.
  • Coach Matt Ferguson will attend all of the teams indoor practices and work with our players on both hitting and field work.  He will also assist each team's coaching staff in indoor practice planning to assure practices are high quality for each athlete.
  • Each player on the team will be assessed a fee during this portion of the year that will cover indoor field and cage rental and coaching fees.

Our main focus during this time is on player development.  Primetime teams and players will all improve their fundamental skills during the Indoor Practice Season.  With only one practice per week, its enough to begin getting the boys ready for the Spring, but not too overbearing.  We want our boys to be able to enjoy other sports in the winter as they get ready for baseball season.

Outdoor Practice/Regular Game Season

About the second week of April, or after spring break, we will move from indoor to outdoor practicing.  This is also about the time we will begin playing our regular season, which will run from mid April - June.  Once again, things like how much outdoor practices teams have, locations for practice, and number of regular season games are all flexible for each team.

  • 2 practices per week, 2 hours in length, held at Trinity Ballpark.
  • 1-2 games per week (about 25 games with the option for more or less).
  • Games will primarily be on Saturdays, with some Sunday games, and in June we may even replace an occasional weeknight practice for some night games.
  • Each player on the team will be assessed a fee during this portion of the year that will cover outdoor field rental for practice/games and reg. season game fees which go toward umpires.

Tournaments

The finale to each season of Primetime Baseball is our tournament season.  In June and July each team will have the option of entering baseball tournaments around the state of Indiana, and possibly even traveling outside the state if that is something the entire team and coaching staff is interested in doing.  Tournament entry fees will be split up among all the players on the team.
